Arts on Prescription
What is it?
Arts on Prescription is our 12-week programme of arts workshops for adults over the age of 18 who are experiencing mental health challenges, including anxiety and depression. Our Arts on Prescription programmes provide friendly and inclusive spaces where previous experience of art is not necessary and newcomers to the arts are encouraged!
Is there a cost?
We do ask for a voluntary contribution of £60 for the programme to support our costs and help us continue this vital work. However, we believe that cost should never be a barrier to positive mental health, so if this contribution is not feasible for you, please contact us and we will find a solution together.
When and where is it held?
We run a number of Arts on Prescription programmes throughout the year in different locations across Cambridgeshire and Peterborough, and we also run online programmes for those who would prefer a virtual experience or cannot make the in-person sessions. Contact us for our list of upcoming programmes.
What do previous participants say?
"I didn’t expect to feel as comfortable there as I did, which is good, normally I can be anxious around new places and people but I felt comfortable pretty quick"
"Every week the session has been engaging and brought new highlights. I have enjoyed everything, even when I didn't think I'd enjoy a specific focus when I heard about it in advance I thoroughly did!"
What can I expect?
Each session is led by a professional artist and qualified counsellor, and you can expect to explore working with a wide range of materials and techniques. These sessions are focused on trying new things, embracing your creative side and meeting new people, with no expectation that you have to be ‘good’ at art (whatever that means!).
How do I find out more?
If you have any questions, or would like to join a programme, please email firstname.lastname@example.org and we can book in a chat. Arts on Prescription is a referral programme, with means that we ask you to discuss with your GP or another health professional, and complete the referral form together. You can also visit our 'Meet the Team' section to find out a bit more about our facilitators.
