STORYTELLING WORKSHOPS, Tennyson Lodge, March

Artist Judith Jones ran a series of 8 story–telling workshops with a group of adults with learning disabilities in March, Cambridgeshire from October – November 2007. The aims of the workshop were to help the participants, all of whom had moved or were in the process of moving from their family home into more independent living, to express themselves through various art–forms and to explore how they were feeling about major changes in their lives and helping them to move on. Judith’s approach involved working with each individual to find the best way for each person to use an art–form that enabled them to communicate aspects of their lives to other people. She used collage, music, 3D modelling, drawing, and recording people’s stories.

The photographs shown here, most of which are taken by the participants, are from 2 photography workshops on identity that were incorporated into the sessions with photographer Kay Goodridge.
