Arts on Prescription

Our Arts on Prescription pilot scheme was successful and highly popular, with a waiting list of 80+. It offered a non-drug-based alternative – or supplementary – intervention for people experiencing mild to moderate mental health issues, such as depression and anxiety.

The IAPT (Improving Access to Psychological Therapies) programme of low intensity interventions makes explicit mention of the scheme as an option to be explored. We plan to expand the current delivery (South & City) to a total of 5 venues across the region including Fenland, Huntingdon (LSC-funded) and Peterborough.

Michaelhouse Chorale

Michaelhouse Chorale is a choir, led with enthusiasm and humour by Sam Hayes, Director of Music at Great St Mary's Church. This friendly, growing choir is open to anybody with a mental health condition - whatever their age, their carers and friends.

It meets in the Michaelhouse Centre every Friday between 2.30 - 3.30pm. Founded in 2007 it is a joint venture between Michaelhouse and Arts & Minds and is supported through voluntary contribution from those attending and exit collections from the monthly concert series at Michaelhouse.

The Chorale has performed at the annual public mtg of the local NHS mental health trust and is featured in a chapter of the recently published book ‘Songs of Resilience’. One of its' members was awarded the Learner of the Year Award in 2010 as a result of their involvement with the choir. Please telephone Arts and Minds if you are interested in joining.

'Long may Michaelhouse Chorale exist!. Continued well-being and happiness through the fellowship of song - that's worth singing for.' - Chorale Member

Norfolk Street Office and Workshop

We would love to develop our new office space to enable us to increase our in-house delivery , making use of our very own workshop space adjoining our office as well as a larger gallery space with potential to host exhibitions and larger group work in a wide range of artistic mediums.

Mobile Studio

A fully-equipped mobile studio space could allow us to take workshop and training programmes out to the more isolated or deprived areas of our region, such as Fenland. Such services could include:

Arts on Prescription
- care worker training for older people’s care homes
- continuing care linked to in-patient ward at North Cambs hospital
- projects linked to Cavell Centre and BME groups in Peterborough

We hope to be able to generate income through the hire of the studio.

Visit us on Facebook for more information or download the information brochure for full specifications and an indication of hire charges.

Seasonal Events

We have presented several seasonal events over the years including talks by Proff. Paul Robertson, Stephen Clift & Jenny Secker

Military Veterans

Disproportionately high numbers of ex-servicemen are amongst the homeless and prison populations in the UK. This is often due to mental health issues resulting from the trauma experienced in service and difficulties of readjusting to civilian life. With artists experienced in working within conflict zones, A&M aim to research project delivery to address the particular needs of this at-risk group.
